The Wheelie

This photo is still one of my favorites as a beginner photographer.

I was shooting on a Canon Rebel T6, a very basic entry level dslr, but it opened up my world and showed me what could be done with a proper camera.

This was shot at the last race ever held at Canyon Raceway in the northern Phoenix Valley. This rider had a late start at the beginning of his race, so being a good sport, he put on a show for the crowd.

I had just learned how to "pan" with a moving object to capture it in focus while retaining the motion in the photo. I hadn't been very successful with it up to this point and as you can see with this photo, the subject still isnt as crisp as I'd prefer. But, this was my most successful attempt at the time, and I was so stoked on my results, I made it my goal that day to get at least one crisp and clean photo showing the motion and speed of the riders.
